The UNEXPECTED Life of Rock:
an Allegorical Tragicomedy in 3 Acts

Act I: Confusion
Scene I: (1976 - 1978)
Our precocious but unprepared protagonist, facing adulthood, realizes he has no idea who he is or what to do - all he really wants is to be left alone. The World (people, personal interaction and collaborative pursuits) scares him; he runs from one possible future after another. <feelings of dislocation and not belonging anywhere>

Scene II: (1978 - 1990) The desert wins a round; chaos reigns personally and professionally; personal relationships come and go; he rejects Family; a child arrives through the clutter. <despair amidst hope...?>

Act II: Consolidation
Scene I: (1990 - 2000) At a new low, with new responsibilities, he decides to concentrate on the one thing that he does well...and eventually he does well by it. He starts dipping his toes into the waters of the World, traveling a bit...and then more. <some order, Hope>

Scene II: (2000-2004) Prosperity at last; the designs of Fate favor him, and the twin suns of professional accomplishment and financial gain finally illuminate his Way. Eager to see the World, he starts traveling extensively. He wants to share what he sees and begins writing; he creates a website of his travelogues as a meek beacon in the vast void… searching for common interest, kindred spirits, camaraderie? <growing satisfaction, more Hope>

Act III: Expansion
Scene I: (Present: 2005 - 2006) He becomes interested in Life, throwing himself open to a rich commitment to the World; he embraces his Fear and decides that the only worthy course of action is to be terrified, daily. Eager to know the World and let his true Self roam, he decides to create and direct his own future mythology and sets out on new and different voyages of discovery… <new energy from change; anticlimax?>

Scene II: (The Future) His Path, chosen even as it was with Wisdom borne of hindsight, is not always easy, but as he sows, so doth he reap, and his Life comes to be immensely rewarding. In the End, he would not have changed a single thing. <golden expectations>
